DNSstuff Site & Account:

Q: I lost my password. How do I retrieve it?

A: Go to DNSStuff.com, in a right part of web site click on ‘Forgot your password?’. Within the Forgot Login section enter your Username or Email address then click on Get Password. An email will be sent to you containing a link to reset your password.

Q: Can I change my userID, email address, or password myself?

A: Yes, login to DNSstuff and navigate to your My Account page. Next, click on Manage Account Settings and make the appropriate changes.

Q: How do I access the tools that I have purchased?

A: Go to DNSStuff.com, click on Login, enter your Username and Password that you received via email upon signup, and then click Login. Once logged in, you can select the service you would like to use under the Toolbox.

Q: I received an email from your company stating that I requested my username and/or password, but did not request this information. Why did this happen?

A: More than likely, someone with a similar Username requested this information by mistake. The mail address associated with your account will be the only email address to receive login information. For example, if you type in “Phil”, but your real username is “Phillip”, a password reset email will be sent to the email address linked to username “Phil”.

Q: Does DNSStuff provide domain registration, DNS hosting or web/email hosting?

A: No, DNSStuff is not a registrar and we do not host DNS or Websites for anyone.

Q: When I visit your website, the IP geolocation that is showing for my IP is incorrect. Why does this happen?

A: We use a 3rd party tool for our IP geolocation called IP2Location. If your IP address is incorrect when you visit our site, we suggest you contact them directly so they can fix it.

Q: Which browsers do you support?

A: For the best performance and results we recommend Google Chrome v20.x or later, Firefox v14.x or later, or Internet Explorer v9 or later.

Q: Do you have downloadable versions of your products?

A: None of our products are currently downloadable. Access to these products is available through your DNSStuff.com account.

Q: Do you have an iPhone app for your tools?

A: Here at DNSStuff we invite our customers to help drive the features and functionality of our products. Please feel free to submit your request or comments to our Thwack community: Thwack account.

Tools General:

Q: Do your tools support IPv6?

A: At this time our tools do not support IPv6.

Q: Do you have any tools that can check the validity of DNSSEC records?

A: Domain Doctor and DNSreports will check to see if DNSSEC records exist. However, at this time we are unable to validate them. We hope to add this feature in the future. If you’d like to see this added, be sure to submit your request to our community site so that others can comment: Thwack

Professional Toolset:

Q: Your whois tool seems to be caching information. How do I get fresh results?

A: Please click on Get fresh results at the top of your whois information.

Q: When I request a whois look up, I get a "quota exceeded" message. Can you extend your quota or use different request-methods so this issue can be resolved?

A: The quota is not something that we set. The whois servers that we are querying are the servers that set the quota. There is not much we can do about this error. Waiting for the server to allow connections from our tool again is the only available option.

Q: DNSReport is showing a mismatched glue error. How do I resolve this?

A: Verify the nameservers listed in your DNS zone file for your domain match those you’ve given to your registrar. Also, verify the IP addresses you’ve given to your registrar have matching NS records in your zone file.

Q: I have problems with larger ISPs, such as AOL & Yahoo, blacklisting my email. When I run the Spam Database Lookup Tool, I get a list of servers that highlight any database that my mail server appears on. How can I tell which lists AOL & Yahoo use so I know if my emails to those servers are being blocked?

A: Unfortunately, you cannot. The larger ISPs normally use proprietary software and will not share that information with you. The best thing to do would be to try and contact the ISP directly to see if they can help.

RBLalert:

Q: How often does your RBLAlert service run against my IPs?

A: RBLAlerts are monitored roughly every three hours.

Q: How many blacklists does your RBLAlert product monitor?

A: We currently monitor over 120 of the most trusted blacklists available.

Domain Doctor:

Q: How often does Domain Doctor run queries against my DNS records? Is this adjustable?

A: Domain Doctor queries roughly every hour. This is currently not adjustable.

Q: There are grayed out menus in the Domain Doctor Dashboard. How do I make them active?

A: You must first type your domain name in the small, white box on the upper left hand side of the dashboard in order to make the menus active.

MSTC:

Q: MSTC is showing a DNS mismatch. What does this mean?

A: This means your reverse DNS entry does not match your forward DNS entry. If you recently made changes to your DNS records, this could be caused by not allowing for enough propagation time. Please allow at least 48 hours for changes to fully take effect. At times, the root servers still see the previous NS as authoritative. Remember to check to see which nameservers the root servers are looking at.
