DNSreport 2.0 BETA 1 - Closed 05/19/2010

We'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to test out BETA 1 and the feedback. We had over 25 million reports generated during the beta. The current beta is now closed and we are incorporating your responses in the next beta release. Please stay tuned - Beta 2 is coming soon!!!

A new design with enhanced functionality

One of the first things you notice about the new DNSreport 2.0 is how quickly you can check the status of the various tests you wish to monitor.  We’ve re-organized the structure of the report to give you a quick summary of your test results.  The report is now designed into two major sections. The top section is a summary of all Failures and/or Warnings so you can immediately see any issues concerning your domain. The bottom section is the full detailed report of your domain. The overall layout also utilizes new visual cues regarding pass, fail and warn results. We have consolidated redundant tests to make the report more clear and have updated the responses to make use of up to date RFCs and industry best practices. Each section and category is collapsible for easy viewing. We have also introduced new functionality by adding DNSSEC tests.

Over 50 tests against your domain

The Parent test section checks the DNS records for the specified domain at the domain's parent nameservers.

The NS test section checks that your nameservers match and that they return basic information like NS records.

The SOA test section checks that the all fields are within recommended limits which ensures timely propagation of domain records.

The MX test section checks your domain's MX records, to make sure that they are valid and RFC compliant.

The MAIL test section checks your mailservers directly to make sure they adhere to standard practices.

The DNSSEC test section is new and checks to see if you have configured your DNSSEC records correctly and warns you when they are about to expire.
